How fees work

Here is how paying works at an urgent visit, in the order most people ask.

  • Insurance we work with

We file claims for many PPO dental plans, and the practice's list of plans is kept on the contact page. We are not enrolled in DHMO plans. We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP. If you aren't sure about your plan, call and ask before you come.

    • PPO dental plans: we file the claim

    • DHMO plans: not enrolled

    • Medicaid and CHIP: not enrolled

    • Medicare Advantage: call and ask

  • If you pay yourself

If you don't have dental insurance, you pay at the visit. You will know the fee before we start, in writing, even when it's an urgent visit. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

    • Pay at the visit

    • Third-party financing, set by the lender

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After every visit you get an itemized receipt with the procedure codes. If your plan reimburses you directly, you can send it in. Whether the plan pays, and how much, is the plan's decision.

    • Itemized, every visit

    • Procedure codes included

  • An estimate in advance

You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment. If you're paying without insurance, we give you a written estimate in advance: the visit, each step we expect and what each one costs. We do this on urgent visits too, before we start work.

    • Written, before treatment

    • Each step and its fee

    • Yours to take home

  • Checking your benefits

Tonya Currie, our patient coordinator, checks your plan's benefits before treatment when your plan lets her. A plan's answer is an estimate of what it pays, not a promise, and she tells you what she found.

    • We check before treatment

    • We tell you what she found

  • What the first visit includes

An urgent first visit takes about 45 to 60 minutes: a few questions, an exam of the tooth and the area around it, an X-ray if Dr. Olmos needs one, and a written estimate before treatment. Health history goes on the private patient portal the practice links to, not into email or the contact form. In an emergency the forms can wait.

    • Exam and an X-ray if needed

    • A written estimate first

    • After-care in writing
